China and Cambodia Sign the Memorandum of Understanding on E-commerce Cooperation

On November 10, 2017, Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Bingnan and the State Secretary of Cambodian Ministry of Commerce Kem Sithan signed the Memorandum of Understanding on E-commerce Cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce of China and Cambodian Ministry of Commerce in Phnom Penh. According to the Memorandum, based on the established comprehensive strategic partnership, especially under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and guided by the Cambodian government’s Rectangular Strategy, China and Cambodia will strengthen communication and cooperation in e-commerce such as policy exchanges, enterprise cooperation, capacity building, personnel training and joint study.

At present, China is Cambodia’s largest trading partner and source of imports, and with the high economic complementarity, China and Cambodia’s bilateral trade and economic cooperation has maintained stable growth. By strengthening e-commerce cooperation, China and Cambodia will jointly improve the trade facilitation and cooperation level and further promote the sustained and steady development of bilateral trade.
