Vice Minister Wang Bingnan Attends China-Malaysia E-commerce Forum and Makes a Speech

On November 7, 2017, Vice Minister of Commerce Wang Bingnan attended the China-Malaysia E-commerce Forum and made a speech. Wang exchanged ideas in depth on the mutually beneficial and win-win development with officials from related Malaysian departments and the representatives of Chinese and Malaysian entrepreneurs.

Wang said in his speech that China and Malaysia were close neighbors locating across the sea as well as good friends and partners relying on each other, respecting each other and cooperating with each other in a win-win situation. This visit to Malaysia aims to implement the general requirements of the two countries’ leaders on China-Malaysia cooperation and comprehensively deepen the economic and trade cooperation between China and Malaysia in e-commerce.

Wang pointed out that the widely used IT represented by the Internet was widely used, the e-commerce platforms and SMEs jointly participated in and promoted global trade, and the new pattern featuring the driving power of innovation and inclusive trade gradually emerged. In 2016, the scale of global e-commerce market exceeded US$25 trillion, showing the deep integration of online and offline, continuous emergence of new models and new formats, the rapid development of mobile e-commerce, data as a key resource, rapid integration of the global market and other salient features. The e-commerce in China has experienced continuously rapid development and has become the biggest online sale market worldwide. As the important emerging economy in Asia, Malaysia’ e-commerce has a bright future. The governments of the two countries attach great importance to and promote the development of e-commerce and have a good foundation for bilateral exchanges and cooperation.

Wang suggested that in order to deepen the Belt and Road international cooperation, MOFCOM of China drew out the action plan for the e-commerce industries along the Belt and Road routes. It is hoped that both countries can take this opportunity to deepen e-commerce exchanges and cooperation on strengthening policy communication, expanding bilateral trade, improving rules and standards, reinforcing the exchanges between think tanks and deepening the cooperation among provinces and states, thus promoting the Belt and Road construction for fruitful results and building a bright future for the economic and trade development between China and Malaysia.

The forum was held in friendly and warm atmosphere. Attending were more than 200 people including the Minister II of Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry YB Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan and other government officials, representatives of Chinese and Malaysian entrepreneurs and the related personnel of the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of Embassy of China in Malaysia.

Before the forum, Vice Minister Wang Bingnan and YB Dato’ Seri Ong Ka Chuan exchanged ideas on strengthening the e-commerce cooperation between China and Malaysia, and held a brief meeting with the representatives of Chinese and Malaysian entrepreneurs.
