The 3rd China International Import Expo and Hongqiao International Economic Forum opened on November 4. President Xi Jinping delivered the keynote speech. In accordance with the requirement of Zhong Shan, Secretary of the CPC Leadership Group of the Ministry of Commerce and Minister, the temporary Party committee of officials assigned by MOFCOM to the 3rd CIIE and all relevant party members and officials studied and implemented the spirit of the keynote speech. Secretary Wang Bingnan of the temporary Party committee presided over an expanded meeting of the temporary Party Committee for a thematic study and discussion on November 5.

The meeting stressed that President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech grasped the historical trend, focused on addressing challenges and overcoming difficulties, proposed China’s initiative for mutual opening up, and announced China’s measures for further opening up, injecting strong positive energy into the recovery and growth of the world economy. The keynote speech noted that the measures announced at the 2nd CIIE had been implemented to the full, demonstrating China's commitment to honoring its promises. The keynote speech put forward a three-point initiative for mutual opening up and four measures for across-the-board opening up, each of which is directly related to commerce. The meeting called for continued efforts to enhance the consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment, to strengthen confidence in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, to uphold General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and the Party Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership, and to study and implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech.

The meeting noted that President Xi Jinping’s keynote speech provided a fundamental guide for making the CIIE a continued success. The keynote speech pointed out that after three years of development, the CIIE has become a platform for international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchanges and open cooperation, and an international public good for the world to share. That the 3rd CIIE was held as scheduled at the special time despite the pandemic reflected the remarkable advantages of the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, as well as China’s sincere desire to share market opportunities with the world and promote world economic recovery. The 3rd CIIE features larger exhibition area, better layout of exhibition zones and higher quality of exhibits. Speaking highly of China for taking on its responsibility as a major country and its achievements in pandemic containment, exhibitors from all over the world are full of expectations for the CIIE and confident in the China market. With a strong sense of political responsibility and historical mission, we should complete the glorious mission entrusted by the Central Committee of the Party, give full play to the CIIE’s platform to make greater contributions to fostering a new dual-cycle development paradigm with domestic cycle as the mainstay and domestic and international cycles reinforcing each other.

The meeting stressed that the 3rd CIIE is proceeding in an orderly manner. All officials and staff engaged in the CIIE should always put safety first, enhance the awareness of providing good services for friends from all walks of life and strive for a safe, splendid and successful CIIE.
